A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I work in the art department at Calvin University as the Studio Associate and Arts Collective Coordinator. Essentially I make sure the studios are running effectively and I work on Arts programming for students!

2. Why do you make art?

Making art allows me to experience a flow state. I love that I can spend hours on something and it feels like minutes have passed. It makes me feel peaceful and content.

3. What inspires you?

I am inspired by meaningful places and memories. I love the feeling of nostalgia and I use that feeling to motivate my creativity.

4. What/who are your influences?

Degas, Cezanne, the Group of Seven, Georgia O'Keefe.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Queen Elizabeth II.
